The armor comprising a twenty-eight-plate black-lacquered suji-kabuto (ridged helmet bowl) of round archaic form with a large archaic tehen-no-ana (aperture at the crown where the plates meet), surrounded by a three-tiered gilt hachimanza (decorative fixture at the tehen-no-ana), the expansive mabisashi (brim) leather-clad and with a gilt fukurin (edging), the maedate (forecrest) of two flat gilt horns in a fixture engraved with waves, the two-tiered manju-jikoro with black-lacquered broad kittsukezane (sheets simulating rows of scales), laced in white and green kebiki-odoshi (close lacing), double fukigaeshi (turnbacks), the lower of black itazane (sheet with straight edges), the upper of itazane clad with leather bearing the gilt-metal triple-clematis mon, the russet somen (face-mask) with detachable nose, moustache, red lips, and silver teeth, two-tier yodarekake (throat protector) of black-lacquered kittsukezane, five-tier sode (shoulder guards) of kittsukezane with white and green kebishi-odoshi (close lacing) lacing, padded printed-leather tsutsu-gote, five-tiered kusazuri (skirt) of white in the upper tiers and green in the lower, the nimai-do (two-piece cuirass) of hon-kozane (laced rows of individual scales), the tsutsu suneate (shin guards) of stencilled leather matching the kote (sleeves), haidate (thigh protectors) of closely laced hon-kozane, the whole armor with matching white, green, and red lacing
