A Yoko-Hagi Okegawa Do Gusoku (Armor of Horizontal Plates)

The armor comprising a thirty-two-plate black-lacquered iron sujibachi (ridged helmet), the hachimanza (decorative part at the crown) of four tiers of gilt and shakudo chrysanthemum form, Hineno-jikoro (Hineno-type neck-guard) of five tiers of black-lacquered kittsukezane (sheets simulating linked individual scales), the small fukigaeshi (turnbacks) leather-clad with rope-pattern metal fukurin (edging) and applied "i" mon ("well" character within a circle), broad mabisashi (brim), the maedate (forecrest) of a horned shigami (demonic face) of metal, the hyotan-gote (sleeves) with narrow shino (splints) on the forearms, the tekko (hand covers) embossed with stylized floral motifs and a "maru-ni-hishi" (lozenge within a circle) mon, the okegawa do (cuirass) of plates of lacquered iron of itazane (sheets in simulation of rows of individual scales) with triangular profile in simulation of ancient sane (scales), with decorative rivets, matching sode (shoulder guards), the koshitori (waist of the cuirass) of three tiers of conventional kittsukezane (sheets simulating individual linked scales), kusazuri (skirt) of seven-sectioned) tassets, Etchu haidate (Etchu-type thigh protectors), black lacquered-iron shino-suneate (splinted shin guards), and leather shoes; together with a paper saihai (commander's baton)
