A Kuronuri Hotoke Do Gusoku (Black-lacquered Armor)

The armor comprising the sixty-two-plate russet iron helmet bowl with five-tiered black-lacquered shikoro (neck guard), ichimonji gashira itazane (iron bands with straight edges), the leather-clad fukigaeshi (turnbacks) with shakudo kikkyo mon, russet iron menpo (face mask) with yodaregake (throat protector) of black-lacquered kittsukezane (simulated rows of scales) with blue lacing, the same mon on the gyoyo (shoulder cord covers), the various cord rings, and the tekko (hand covers) of the kote (sleeves), six-tier sode (shoulder guards) hyotan-gote (sleeves) on green brocaded-silk with three sets of narrow sculpted shino, the tekko (hand covers) with floral motifs and mon of clematis within a circle, the maedate (forecrest) of a gilt-metal sun, and the wakidate (side crests) of black-lacquered wood simulating oxhorn, gomai-do (five-piece cuirass) of starkly black-lacquered iron, with single-tier munatori (laced scales across the breast) and koshitori (laced scales across the waist) of black-lacquered iron kozane (scales) laced in dark blue, five-tiered kusazuri (skirt) of eleven tassets, Iyo haidate (Iyo-style thigh protector) with rectangular black-lacquered plates, black-lacquered shino suneate (splinted shin guards), the armor with matching kittsukezane (sheets simulating laced scales) throughout

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Juyo bunka shiryo (Important cultural material) no. 464 issued by the Nihon Katchu Bugu Kenkyu Hozon Kai (Japanese Armor Preservation Society), dated 2001.11.4
