A DUTCH EBONY, EBONIZED AND BRASS INLAID STRIKING 'HAAGSE' CLOCK
LUBBURTUS VAN DER BURGH, DEN HAAG. CIRCA 1665-1670. THE CASE ADAPTED.
The rectangular case with moulded arched top, glazed side panels, glazed door to front and rear, on ripple moulded plinth base. Overall inlaid with brass lines and C-scroll to the top. Brass dial covered with brownish velvet and with engraved gilt brass chapterring, pierced gilt-brass hands, hinged gilt repousse signature cartouche signed Lubartus van der Burgh Fecit.Haghe, the single barrel movement with four back-pinned turned brass pillars, verge escapement, blued steel levers, steel arbors and brass wheelwork, countwheel strike on bell above, movement probably going for one week; pendulum
