AN UNUSUAL ARCHAISTIC PALE GREYISH-WHITE, RUSSET, AND BLACK JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
POSSIBLY IMPERIAL, 1740-1840
The rectangular body with slightly rounded sides tapering to the square foot rim and surmounted by a cylindrical neck, each side finely carved in low relief with a taotie mask below a central band of comma scrolls and an upper band of stylized dragon scroll, the greyish-white stone dramatically mottled with patches of russet, black and feathery grey, the jade stopper carved from material of similar color
