JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
Painted in the interior with a large phoenix in flight amidst clouds, its long, trailing tail formed as simplified foliate scroll, beneath a border of alternating cranes in flight amidst clouds and roundels of shou characters, the reverse painted with a continuous border of leafy lingzhi scroll, all between double line borders; together with, a small blue and white dish, Jiajing six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle and of the period, painted in the interior with simplified chilong striding amidst sprays of lingzhi, the design repeated on the exterior beneath the crenellated rim
