A RARE BRONZE SQUARE CENSER AND COVER
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The vessel is finely cast with taotie masks on all sides and applied with raised flanges on the corners. Two sides have small loop handles emanating from further taotie masks. The cover is pierced with two writhing dragons and surmounted with a waisted finial. The base has been cast with a five-character mark reading Jiyiju zhencang, which translates as 'From the Collection of the Studio of Accumulated Rightness'.
