MARK OF IVAN KHLEBNIKOV, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1890
Of traditional form, on square base and four bracket feet, the body and hinged cover decorated with stylised scrolling foliage and strapwork, the stylised and shaped thumb-piece champlevé enamelled in red and blue with pan-Slavic ornament, the back centring a vacant arched cartouche flanked by two crowing cockerels, the back and cover inscribed in Russian '8 VIII 1899 Moscow' and 'To the trade house of William Miller & Co from a corporation Vasilii Perlov & Sons', gilt interior, marked inside and on cover, also on base
