A Lacquer Suzuribako [Writing Box]
Meiji Period (late 19th century)
Decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi-e and fundame and lead inlays on a polished black lacquer ground with deer among grasses, the interior of the lid and fitted inner trays similarly decorated, silver water dropper engraved with scrolling karakusa, two brushes, a knife and paper pricker in matching lacquer cases similarly decorated, slate inkstone with fundame rim, with original fitted box
