A pair of figures of cranes of similar design and size, but on a taller hexagonal base is illustrated in Colourful, Elegant, and Exquisite: A Special Exhibition of Imperial Enamel Ware from Mr. Robert Chang's Collection, Suzhou, 2007, p. 14-15. Two pairs of closely related cranes on circular stands were sold at Sotheby's London, 25 May 1965, lot 32. Another comparable pair of cranes supported on tortoises from the Estate of Mary Viscountess Rothermere was sold at Christie's New York, 2 June 1994, lot 82. Also compare with a similar pair of cranes of slightly different colour tones, sold at Christie's London, 4 November 2008, lot 74.
