拍品专文

After a fresco of circa 1616-18, by Domenichino and his assistants, one of the series painted in the Stanza di Apollo in the garden pavilion of the Villa Aldobrandini, Frascati, and now in the National Gallery, London. While in Rome, Drouais followed the example of David by executing hundreds of drawings after the antique and the Old Masters. A large proportion of these drawings are in the 'Album Drouais' in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Rennes, which includes five copies after Domenichino (exhib. cat., Jean-Germain Drouais 1763, Rennes, 1985, p. 112, nos. 288-92).
