India, Rajasthan or Gujarat, 18th/19th century
Mahavira seated on an elaborate gold throne at center with his hands folded in his lap, adorned with a multitude of necklaces and fresh flower garlands, the face with steady gaze surmounted by a beaded headdress and backed by a radiant nimbus, surrounded by seated jinas, a male and female donor in the foreground, each holding a fly whisk, with a pair of winged apsaras above showering flowers, amidst a verdant landscape with a floral carpet
