A lacquer inro box (inrodansu)
Edo-Meiji period (19th century), with signature and seal Zeshin
The rectangular box with a loop handle on top and forward-facing removable door opening to reveal four drawers, decorated in varicolored gold, silver and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, silver kirikane and aogai with a leafy, flowering vine and butterfly, all on a red-lacquer ground, the edges sprinkled silver on a roiro ground; with signature at the lower left of the door and inscribed Go inro in the upper right, door lock, hinges and handle of engraved gilt copper
