A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A SEATED BODHISATTVA
LATE MING, 17TH CENTURY
The figure is shown seated with right hand raised in vitarka mudra, the left hand held in dhyana mudra above the lap, and wearing a jeweled necklace and layered robes, as well as an openwork foliate crown unusually centered by a kundika. The separate triangular gilt-lacquered base is cast with overlapping rows of lotus petals.
