8 volumes (308 x 200 mm). Chinese. Numerous illustrations (light staining to a few volumes). Chinese wrappers (minor chipping and tears to sides). Provenance: Mills College Library (bookplate); C. T. Loo (inkstamp).

A senior Manchu official of the late Qing period and a renowned collector, Duan Fang (1861-1911) amassed an extraordinary collection of Chinese art, and named it after his hao or pseudonym, Taozhai. Taozhai ji jin lu covers not only important archaic bronzes in the collection, but also weaponry and smaller bronze items, with the majority of them dating to the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties (2100 BC - 221 BC).
