Lot Essay

This rug is a very unusual variant on the normal Masha'ir design in that it includes a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad unveiled at the top of the rug (no.18, identified as Muhammad b. Abdallah, at the top of the rug just left of centre depicted as a prince).
