An illustration from the Shahnama of Firdousi, gouache heightened with gold on buff paper, Kay Khusraw leaves his elaborately decorated throne to decapitate Afrasiyab who has been bought before him, courtiers in brightly coloured robes look on, one line of black nasta'liq in two columns above and four columns below, between gold rules, the reverse with 25ll. of similar black nasta'liq, one heading in blue, mounted, framed and glazed
