With curved single-edged blade, the gold-damascened decoration with a recumbent lion and cusped medallion with Persian inscription in thuluth script reading bandah Shah 'Abbas Safawi ("the servant of Shah 'Abbas Safawi" beneath, the guard and knuckle-guard with quatrefoils and stylised floral motifs
