MOSTLY TIMURID AND SAFAVID IRAN, SOME MUGHAL FOLIOS, MOSTLY 16TH AND 17TH CENTURY
Comprising numerous separate folios from Safavid manuscripts cut without their margins as a result of the ink corrosion, the vast majority written in very fine black nasta'liq script, some folios with text arranged in one main panel, others with two or four columns, many with finely gold and polychrome illuminated borders and panels, with gold-speckled coloured paper folios, including a nasta'liq quatrain by Mir 'Ali with text in cloud on gold ground finely illuminated, folios from a Shiraz manuscript, one group of folios with colophon dated AH 1001, one group of Mughal folios with colophon giving the date of AH 1005 "during the reign of Jalal al-Din Muhammad Akbar Padhsah Ghazi" and signed Khaki bin Yar Muhammad Hajji, other group of folios with colophon with name of Shah Jahan, including four Ottoman panels, the vast majority very clean
