First half of the Qur'an from Qur'an I (sura al-fatiha) to Qur'an XVII (sura al-isra'), Arabic manuscript on paper, 556ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 7ll. of fine black naskh script, sura headings marked by gold and polychrome floral illuminated cartouches on gold ground, text within black-ruled gold frame, margins with further black-ruled gold frame, opening bifolio with dense gold and polychrome floral illumination with text panels of 7ll. of black naskh script in cloud bands on gold ground with polychrome floral illumination, the following bifolio with marginal illumination in gold and polychrome, colophon signed, dated and dedicated to Khanum 'Azmat Shawqat, final bifolio with gold and polychrome marginal illumination, with numerous seal impressions from two seals dated AH 1234 and 1237 (?), in original lacquered binding with floral decoration, the lacquered doublures with gilt foliage, very clean copy
