A GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE CENSER AND STAND
17TH CENTURY
The censer is of compressed globular form with a pair of handles formed as leafy stalks of bamboo to each side. The base of the censer is cast with a pair of five-clawed dragons, with a flaming pearl and surrounded by stylised clouds and flames, encircling a six-character apocryphal Xuande mark. The stand is supported on three ruyi-head feet.
13 in. (33 cm.) wide across handles, 6¾ in. (16.5 cm.) high overall
