ALEXANDRA FEODOROVNA -- A silk portfolio presented by Le Triboulet, c. 1896

White silk portfolio (330 x 270mm) with yellow and brown brocade border, the upper side with a fine pen and ink drawing in blue, black and pink inks, showing the Russian Imperial eagle with a blazon on which is inscribed the dedication, pink silk doublures (the silk thread holding the blotter leaves detached, minor soiling). Provenance: Alexandra Feodorovna, Empress Consort of Russia (1872-1918; bookplate).

A FINELY-ILLUSTRATED SILK PORTFOLIO PRESENTED TO EMPRESS CONSORT ALEXANDRA. Given to her by the satirical periodical 'Le Triboulet' as a memento of her official visit to France with Nicholas II in 1896.
