Contemporary half leather (rebacked preserving the original spine, lower joint starting). FIRST EDITION. ANASTASIIA NIKOLAEVNA'S COPY, YOUNGEST DAUGHTER OF TSAR NICHOLAS II, WITH HER OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE AND WITH THE PLATES COLOURED BY A CONTEMPORARY HAND, probably the Grand Duchess herself. Presented to her by her tutor Petr Petrov, with the inscription, in Russian: 'A.N. from P.V.P. Tsarskoe Selo, 22 December 1913'. Petrov was the Imperial children's Russian tutor, but he was also charged with supervising all of their studies, and the various tutors. His inscription to Anastasiia pre-dates the printed publication date of 1914. Aver'ianova was a popular and prolific author of children's literature in the years before the revolution.
