8° (225 x 150mm). The manuscript, 20pp. in black ink in a neat cursive hand. Bound together in contemporary green morocco by Ludwig of Frankfurt, with his stamp, the upper side with a mounted pen-and-ink drawing of the arms of Russia and titled in gilt, white moiré silk doublures, gilt edges (upper side and spine faded to brown). Provenance: H.C. Krüger (presentation inscription to:) -- Nicholas II of Russia -- B.E. Kazankov (woodcut bookplate, stamps).
NICHOLAS II'S COPY, PRESENTED TO HIM BY THE AUTHOR WITH A RELATED MANUSCRIPT, and bound in green morocco decorated with a fine drawing of the Imperial arms. The author has also bound a copy-letter to Alexander III which he had sent with another example of the same work in 1887. Russia, in the early 1880s, was in the throes of a serious financial crisis in the wake of the Russo-Turkish war.
