8° (222 x 154mm). Woodcut vignettes after Seriakov, Kurenkov, Berestov, Markov, and Muravev. (Some mostly marginal spotting, a few leaves browned.) Contemporary dark green morocco, sides panelled in gilt and blind and centred by a gilt arabesque, white moiré silk doublures, gilt inner dentelles, edges gilt. Provenance: Maximilian, 3rd Duke Leuchtenberg (1817-1852; bookseller's description laid-in, green shelf label on spine).

The town of Korcheva, mentioned in Tolstoy's War and Peace, was abandoned and submerged in 1936 during the development of the Ivankovo Reservoir, Moscow's main fresh water source.
