2 volumes, 4° (280 x 220mm). Illustrated throughout. (Light browning in the margins of one vol.) Contemporary half-leather by N. Gaevskii, with his ticket, leather tooled with an all-over pattern incorporating foliage, dragonflies, cicadas, and various insects, top edge gilt (light wear). Provenance: Grand Duchess Elizaveta Mavrikievna (1865-1927; printed statement) -- Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich (1858-1917; shelf-mark and librarian's manuscript note) -- Academy of the History of Material Culture (stamps) -- 'Printed in Soviet Union' (small import stamp) -- A. PRINTED FOR GRAND DUCHESS ELIZAVETA MAVRIKIEVNA, AND IN A DECORATIVE BINDING BY GAEVSKII; later in the collection of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich, best know under his pen name Konstantin Romanov, with his librarian's note recording the book as a duplicate. A fine annual record of the season at the Imperial theatres in St. Petersburg, and Moscow. Illustrated with reproductions of stage designs, and portraits of numerous Russian and visiting performers, for various productions including Glinka's 'Ruslan and Liudmila'.
