LATE 18TH CENTURY
The vessel is supported on three low feet and carved with five figures in a boat sailing through a rocky gorge lined with pine and willow trees, a calligraphic inscription from Qian Chibi Fu by the poet Su shi to the reverse reads Yue chu yu dongshan zhi shang, paihuai yu dou yun zhijian that expresses the viewers' wonder at the beauty of the Red Cliff.
