ATTRIBUTED TO THE ALKIMACHOS PAINTER, CIRCA 470-460 B.C.
The obverse with a nude jumper in profile to the right, haltares (jumping weights) held forth in his straight arms, a pillar behind supporting his himation and a staff curved at the end, the pillar inscribed in Greek, posnos, sandals hanging above; the reverse with a bearded trainer holding a measuring stick, his body frontal, his head in left profile, preparing to measure the jump of the athlete on the obverse, clad in a himation draped across his waist and over his left arm; both sides with a band of stopt meander below the scenes
