Lot Essay

The present belt hook with its simple design is comparable to a number of examples dated to the Ming period, including one with a goose head collection of Sir Joseph Hotung, illustrated by J. Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing, British Museum Press, London, 1995, p. 345, pl. 25:32; where it is illustrated together with similar belt hooks in the British Museum Collection, ibid., p. 346, fig. 1.
