Lot Essay

'The Wrestlers', also known as 'The Pancrastinae', is inspired by a Roman marble sculpture at the Uffizi, Florence, which is after a lost Hellenistic bronze of the third century BC, either of the Pergamene school or the circle of Lysippus.
