Sitting on his haunches on a lotus base holding a vajra and ghanta crossed in his hands, his head tilted back and looking straight up with mouth open and eyes bulging, surmounted by a skull tiara with the hair in flames

This sculpture was used with incense burning vessels in rituals pertaining to purification. Black sesame seeds were inserted through the mouth into a pot filled with coals. The resulting smoke purifies the practitioner from defilements.
