Second edition in Castilian and the third edition in any language. Ribadeneira's was the first life of the founder of the Society of Jesus, written by a follower whom Loyola received into the Society even before it had received papal sanction. Early editions, as here, affirm that Loyola performed no miracles other than the founding of the Society; Ribadeneira later revised this statement. Palau 266223 (citing an issue with transposed numerals, dated "1854").
