A CIZHOU-TYPE WHITE-GLAZED BOWL WITH 'PIE CRUST' RIM
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY, 10TH CENTURY
The bowl has deep, flared sides that round upwards to the pinched 'pie crust' rim, and is covered inside and out with a glaze of ivory color that falls irregularly onto the knife-cut foot exposing the granular ware. Together with a Cizhou-type ovoid jar, Song dynasty, that is decorated with horizontal bands rouletted through the brown overglaze to expose the ivory-colored underglaze.
