AN UNUSUAL LARGE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BIXIA YUANJUN
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The Heavenly Jade Maiden is shown seated on a rectangular plinth with her feet resting on the shaped base, and holding a gui tablet. Her face is well cast with calm expression, and she wears layered robes with lotus scroll borders that fall in crisp folds, and a 'phoenix' crown with long trailing ribbons that surrounds her topknot.

Acquired prior to 1964, and thence by descent within the family.
