The robe is embroidered in satin stitch on the front and back panels with sprigs of wisteria among shou medallions sewn in gold-wrapped thread. The decoration repeats again on the pale blue silk cuffs between an inner pale cream-color border decorated with prunus and an outer black silk border decorated with wisteria and butterflies.
