A SMALL WHITE JADE MUGHAL-STYLE BOWL AND COVER
18TH CENTURY
The thin sides of the compressed body are finely carved with a dense design of Indian lotus blossom, stylized flowerheads and overlapping acanthus leaves, and the pair of loop handles is carved as a flower sprig. The base is carved with a central flowerhead encircled by two rows of petals that radiate out to the petal-carved foot ring. The domed cover is carved with leaves below a petal-carved finial. The semi-translucent stone is of white tone with minor opaque inclusions.
5 in. (12.5 cm.) across handles
