A RARE DINGYAO CARVED FOLIATE-RIMMED SHALLOW BOWL
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY, 11TH-12TH CENTURY
The finely potted bowl has widely flared sides that rise from the tall ring foot to the petal-lobed rim and is covered overall with a glaze of even ivory-white tone. The interior is fluidly carved with a peony spray bearing feathery leaves and a large blossom in full bloom. The leaves and petals are accented with combed details. The rim is bound with a thin metal band.
