According to S. Jenyns, Later Chinese Porcelain, London, 1951, pl. CXII (1), where a bowl of this pattern in the British Museum is illustrated, the mark identifies it as "part of a service made for a granddaughter of Tao Kuang who married a Mongolian prince of the Tumed Banner." The author further notes, p. 72, that the set was made at the Imperial factories to celebrate the marriage. Compare the set of five similar cups and pewter stands sold at Christie's New York, 22-23 March 2012, lot 2039.
