PROBABLY VAN, EASTERN TURKEY, 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular-section pencase with rounded terminals, one hinged, the nielloed decoration with a sketched face of a man, the faceted barrel-shaped inkwell with hinged cover and small turning latch, the sides decorated with the likeness of a lady and two pavillions, the qalam holder nielloed with a city landscape to one side and a stylized palmette flanked by two animals, the slanted edges with geometric forms
