With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with raised gold hour markers in 1953 and its subsequent sale on 12 August 1953.

To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never been offered at auction before.

Manufacture of reference 2459 was launched in 1950. The first series featured a caliber 12'''120 movement, the second series, such as the present watch, caliber 12'''400. It is thought that less than 14 examples of reference 2459J, first and second series, have appeared in public to date.
The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second édition, p. 175.
