A GREEN JADEITE CARVED PENDANT
19TH CENTURY
The pendant is carved and pierced in the form of two recumbent dogs with bushy tails. The stone is of an attractive apple-green tone with some pale areas. The silk tassle has a small attached pink tourmaline gourd-shaped toggle.
1¾ in. (4.4 cm.) high
Provenance
From the collection of Llewellyn Jones (born 1870's, died 1947) and then by descent. Acquired when he was travelling in East Asia during the early part of the 20th Century. Part of the collection can be seen on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum and has been exhibited from circa 1949.
