A SUPERB MUGHAL-STYLE WHITE JADE EWER AND COVER
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The body is finely carved with a central lotus bloom surrounded by meandering leafy stems. The spout is formed by leaves clustered together and supported by a small ruyi with a loose ring. The delicate openwork handle is formed by entwined leaves with a slightly curled terminal. The domed cover has two curled lotus leaves, each supporting a loose ring, and the finial is in the form of a small bud. The stone is of an even pale tone with attractive cloudy inclusions.

Provenance
Acquired in Asia in the first quarter of the 20th century by the grandmother of the current owner and thence by descent.
