A SMALL PAIR OF WHITE JADE CIRCULAR BOXES AND COVERS
19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Each box is of plain form and rests on a slightly raised foot ring. Each base is incised with an apocryphal four-character Qianlong seal mark highlighted in gilt. The stone is of a pale even tone.
2 3/8 in. (5.6 cm.) diam. (2)
Provenance
From the collection of Llewellyn Jones (d.1947) and then by descent.
Acquired when he was travelling in East Asia during the early part of the 20th Century.
Part of the collection was gifted to the Victoria and Albert Museum c.1949.
