Kitae [forging pattern]: close itame with ji-nie, shirake, much sumihada
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha with variations, gunome midare, kuchigai-ba, of nioi with ko-nie
Boshi [tip]: ko-maru
Horimono [carvings]: bohi nagasu
Nakago [tang]: suriage, two mekugi-ana, kiri file marks on the tachi-ura, no file marks on the new portion of the omote, original file marks indistinct
Habaki [collar]: simulated double gold-clad
Nagasa [length of blade]: 71.3cm.
Koshirae [mounting]: shirasaya

Accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Hozon Token [Sword Worthy of Preservation] no. 373451 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai [Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword] on 29 March 2006.

The smith has not been satisfactorily identified, but the strong shirake suggest that the blade might be by one of the Kunimune family of Bungo province working in the 15th century.
