Lot Essay

US$20,000-30,000

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with raised Breguet figures in steel, dot minute ring, radium in 1949 and its subsequent sale on 30 June 1950.

This watch is an attractive and rare example of a reference 565. According to our research, the present lot has never appeared at auction before. Furthermore, the Breguet numerals and radium markers are all fully confirmed by the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives.

Reference 565, the first large water-resistant watch featuring a two-piece case with screw back and dust cover, was available with either subsidiary or sweep centre seconds. The timelessly modern design of reference 565 served as inspiration for the creation of the 2006 stainless steel inaugural reference 5565.
