A TALL COPY IN ORIGINAL BOARDS of the atlas for this important mission, conceived on a grand scale, whereby Britain sought to improve diplomatic and commercial relations with China. A 'famous embassy... of considerable interest owing to the descriptions of the various places en route which were visited' -- including Madeira, Tenerife, Rio de Janeiro, Java, Sumatra, Cochin-China, etc. Cordier Sinica, 2382; Cox I, p.344; Brunet V, 525 ('Relation très-intéressante').
