A NORTH ITALIAN ETCHED COMB MORION
CIRCA 1600
Of one piece, with skull rising to a prominent roped comb (repaired), the base of the skull encircled by a row of lining rivets with brass rosette-shaped washers, mostly original, and brim with turned roped edge rising to a point fore and aft, later etched decoration throughout comprising panels of Classical ornament including armour, weapons, figures and mythical birds all against a granular ground (old braized pre-etching repair to side of skull)
