A NORTH ITALIAN COMB MORION
LATE 16TH CENTURY
Of one piece, with high roped comb, skull encircled at the base by a row of lining-rivets each with worn brass rosette-shaped washer (some lacking), and narrow brim rising to a point fore and aft and with turned roped edge, with later etching including scrollwork and Classical portrait busts to the comb and foliage around the brim, each with gilded finish, the skull with sprays of foliage (some repairs, rim damaged)
