'I am very interested in the ambiguous imagery of the Big City. The poetry of things that go to make urban life. Things that reveal our nature. Emblems of life. A strategy I often use in my work is the metamorphosis achieved by altering the meaning and significance of an image by isolation and enlargement' (Joe Tilson quoted in E.
