Lot Essay

Three in One depicts an item of underwear that combines a bra, corset and pants. Jones's source material for this work was a 'Frederick's of Hollywood' mail-order catalogue, produced by a Californian firm that specialised in ranges of fetish clothing and footwear. Jones had previously turned to the same source material for inspiration and the names used in his iconic series of 'shelf paintings' in 1966, such as Wet Seal (Tate, London).

The present lot is the original design for a series of colour screenprints of the same title, published by Marlborough Graphics in 1971.
